Art + Illustrations by Julien Pacaud

When first exposed to the work of Julien Pacaud I immediately took a liking to it on the basis of the illustrator's quirky style and imagination, and his ability to stop the viewer in their tracks with dynamic imagery rich with story and emotion. I enjoy this aspect of his work beyond even, an attempt at literal interpretation. Reminiscent of James Rosenquist's work from the 1960's you get the sense that Pacaud is, among other things, a fantastic visual storyteller with a great sense of humor - even if you only see one image out of a set. His work has a special way of stopping
Simply put: I find this artist and his work interesting. Interesting in the way that only someone with enormous talent and graciousness (as apposed to arrogance) can be. Just check out the "about" section from his website for a perfect example:
"I'm a french illustrator, currently living in Le Mans, France. Before becoming an illustrator, i was, by turns : an astrophysician, an international snooker player, a hypnotist and an esperanto teacher. I hope i can someday have enough free time to devote myself to my real passion : time travel."
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do! Let me know what you think in the comments and on twitter where I go by @nathanbweller.
